At three feet above the ground.

Remember when you used to put your arms in your shirt and told everyone that you have no arms, you would sleep with all your stuffed toys so none of them got offended and how you would watch the raindrops on your car window and pretend they were having a race. Remember when we were kids and couldn’t wait to grow up?

There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colours are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again.

And how winsome it was, when you were young,
With bottled talents and your tunes unrung.

One day an astronaut, the other you were a trooper at frontier,
‘The teacher can have me scolded’ was the solitary fear.

Each star carried a wish and butterflies held important meetings,
Squabbles faded with pinky promises, grins and greetings.

When tears were important and smiles never went off stock,
When cranky moods were lifted with chocolate and a play-along-walk.

When Dora taught the alphabet, Cinderella danced alongside,
The only devils were Voldemort and Evil Queens with horns amplified.

When dentists were rude uncles and school a haunted place,
Saving Earth from alien invasions was the secret mission each day!

All dreams were achievable and all mysteries unexplored,
The goals shifted at any time with different characters met and unleashed.

The world seemed a miracle with happiness abound,
‘Trust’ was but a ‘Dear mommy, daddy’ sound.

But now the phase stays elapsed with substituted fake laughter and hidden wails,
And the torment of few forgotten dreams and broken self promises – to the childhood – has pushed the coffin nails!
